Formed in 2012 by singer/guitarist Stefan Hodges, drummer Ian Ellis, and bassist Adam Nikkel, Animal Teeth is a three piece rock band from Winnipeg, Canada. This is friendly, timeless music with big chords, pretty bass melodies, great singing, and drumming that sounds easy but never is. Animal Teeth employs no gimmicks, does no pandering; their recipe is a good song played well, the light sum of heavy parts.
On August 20, 2019 Animal Teeth release EP, Nice Cave on Canadian independent record label Disintegration Records. The band’s fourth album, Nice Cave is a six-song, 24 minute Hal Hartley movie: literate, magical, painful and triumphant. These songs are patient and real; anthems for a stranger on a city bus, slow, sad songs to pack up your apartment and move away with. There's electric piano played with restraint and saxophone used for good instead of evil.
Recorded and mixed by J Riley Hill at Collector Studios and mastered by Cam Loeppky, Nice Cave SOUNDS great loud or quiet; a new brand of down-tempo alt-country rock from Winnipeg. Soft manners from the hard centre of North America.
